Dr. Reda Bedeir

Lecture delivered on 17 May 2008. Dr. Reda Bedeir is an Instructor and the Muslim Chaplain at both the University of Calgary and Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He teaches Islamic and Arabic courses. He is the Imam of Calgary Islamic Centre. He delivers lectures, sermons, and public speeches and participates in dialogues at mosques, churches and temples. He concludes marriage and offers counseling for the Muslim community in Calgary. He obtained a B.A. degree in English and a M.A. degree in Simultaneous Translation between Arabic and English and vice versa from the Faculty of Tongues, Ain Shams University, Egypt. Dr. Bedeir obtained his Ph.D. degree in Applied Linguistics & Islamic Studies from Al-Azhar University, Egypt where he has worked as an Associate Professor of Linguistics and Islamic Studies and the chairman of the English Department, Faculty of Humanities. He is a Fulbright senior scholar who taught Islamic courses and started an Arabic Program at Wake Forest University in North Carolina in USA in 2004. He is also an Associate Professor with the Sharia Academy of America where he teaches Islamic studies online. He has written and published a number of papers on Linguistics and Islam. Moreover, he is also an interpreter with the WHO. He translated a number of books from Arabic into English and vice versa.«
